Okay, so I recently got a new computer with all these nice things...

Available Physical Memory 4.35 GB
Total Virtual Memory 15.6 GB

Page File C:\pagefile.sys

... and I get tons of lag in Single Player! 12 FPS! My old laptop was MUCH better, and it took an hour to load a web page correctly. My old laptop had a dual core processor and 3gb RAM. No one has been able to answer why I am getting so much lag yet... I don't care if it can't be fixed, I just want to know why!! Is it my graphics card or something? I don't know how to find that. Most people I know don't have computers with 8gb RAM and an i5 processor yet their game runs MUCH better. My internet speed is good, and I know that for a fact. If anyone can answer why I lag I would appreciate it very much. Thanks!

EDIT: I just found out something... my video card apparently sucks according to some test I took... here is what it is:

Video RAM = 1.7 GB
3D = Yes
Hardware T&L = Yes
Pixel Shader version = 4.0
Vertex Shader version = 4.0

And is the 2.4 ghz thing up there bad?

Meh, 2.4ghz dual core isn't horrible. It's kinda the average nowadays.

Your problem is your graphics card. I didn't see it anywhere in that list, and your edit didn't really tell much, but I'm positive it's your graphics card.

You shouldn't have any problems running minecraft with 8 gigs of RAM anda 2.4ghz dual core processor unless your graphics card blows dong.

I've got 8 gigs of RAM as well, and that's pretty above average, so RAM isn't your issue. I've got a quad core processor but my roommate has a dual core (with only 2 gigs of RAM) and has no problems running minecraft. Both of our graphics cards are pretty good though, so I'm banking on that as your problem. Try finding out what graphics card you have.

Yeah I guess it is my graphics card, I did some research. I guess I will have to live with it since it is intel and built into my motherboard. I reduced a crap load of lag by throwing more RAM at minecraft though. Thanks for the help!

i run this currently

Gateway Dx4200-09
AMD Phenom x4 1.66ghz
4 gb ram
640GB HDD
Intergraded ATi Hd3200 2gb

I have a intergraded but it shows as 2gb. i get a normal 25-40 fps on minecraft. it sounds like a firewall issue. it may actually be blocking some java programs from running!!

java is out of date
Gpu is out of date.

you may have an intergraded BUT! u still need to uppdate the drivers. update the intergraded drivers. then it should help it!

Nvidia Intergraded Drivers
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Choose the type of intergraded driver you have.

For Java Being Out of date do this
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp?locale=en&host=www.java.com

also Get the the runtime for java.
http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Thanks for all this, but for the second link, what am I supposed to do there? I don't know much about all this techy computer stuff, and I do not know what "integrated driver" I have either. Isn't NVIDIA a brand like intel or something? If so.. I don't think I have that... maybe?

Well For Me I use a GUI for My AMD Setup. its a complete control center for each of my four cores/ 2 ram chips...

Everything on my rig is overclocked. im pushing this pc well over 200- 250 degrees.

My old pc was SOO far overclocked it registered at 400 degrees on a summer day about 2 years ago.

Mostly cuase of my ATi Radeon X1600. small fan trying to cool a big chip.

Also What Chip set is yours??

PCI Express 2.1 x16 bus interface?

PCI Express 2.0 x16?

OR

PCI Express 2.1 x16 bus interface CrossFire???

PCI Express 2.0 x16 bus Interface CrossFire??
